Steel roof sheets
Galvanized steel ‘Ultra’ sheets offer fewer joins as an added security feature. Ideal for high risk areas such as council owned garage sites, schools, works, etc.
Translucent roof sheets
Fibre-gel based roofing product which gives much more strength and durability than traditional transparent plastic roofing materials. Supplied in panel sizes of 1.8m x 0.9m (less overlap of approx 100mm all round when fitted).
ROOF TRUSSES AND PURLINS
Trusses
Welded 40mm x 40mm x 5mm angle iron mild steel trusses with red oxide primer protective coat fitted at 1.2m centres on apex buildings, and 1.8m centres on sloping buildings.
Stability Frame (for sloping roof double garages)
RSJ beam with channel iron legs to front and rear with red oxide primer protective coat.
Perlins
75mm x 50mm softwood timber sourced from managed forests.
FASCIAS AND SKIRTS

Sloping roof buildings
50mm to each side, 100mm to rear (un-guttered), 150mm to rear (guttered)
DOOR & WINDOW POSITION
Up & Over Doors
Apex roof buildings can have door fitted in ANY plane of the building (front, rear, or either side), and it is possible to fit more than one door in a single building (i.e. front and rear) subject to specification.
Sloping roof buildings can have door fitted in either front or rear of the building, or both (subject to specification), thus creating a forward or rearward sloping roof.
Personnel doors & windows
Personnel doors and windows can be fitted virtually anywhere in the building, apart from across roof truss positions and in the exact corners of the building. Doors open outwards as standard and can be hinged from left or right. Inward opening doors are also available.
PLANNING PERMISSION
Most sectional buildings are completely void of the requirement of planning permission or building regulations, but it is always recommended to check with your local planning office before commencement of any building or base work.
BASE SPECIFICATION
Garage base must be manufactured from concrete. It should be minimum thickness of 100mm (4″), and ideally thicker around the perimeter of the slab to 150mm (6″).
Base should be approximately 150mm (6″) wider and 150mm (6″) longer than the desired garage size, and completely flat, level and square.
Consideration should be taken for roof overhangs, guttering, and door swings (including the up & over door) when positioning the base.
The concrete should be left to cure for a minimum of one week prior to the delivery of the building.
MORTAR FILLETS
A mortar fillet is required to seal the buildings panels at the base junction after installation.
It should be applied to the INSIDE of the building only and be triangular in shape, spanning approximately 25mm (1″) of the panels and base.
The door weather strip should be secured to the base using screws & rahl-plugs, and the mortar fillet should be applied to both INSIDE and OUTSIDE of the weather strip.
Installation MUST be carried out on a dry day to ensure adequate adhesion. A stronger bond will be achieved if Unibond adhesive or similar is incorporated in the mixing water at the rate of 1 part Unibond to 5 parts water.
OLD GARAGE REMOVAL
As explained in our f&q our base laying team can remove your old garage or we can advise what to do if you are removing it yourself
Be aware, most skip companies are not allowed by law to carry asbestos and you must make other provisions for removal of this type of waste material. Contact us for more information.
ACCESS TO SITE
Our lorry needs to gain access within 30 metres of your proposed garage base site.
The panels and other component parts of your building are extremely heavy, and require us (by health & safety at work regulations) to push the component parts to the base site from the lorry with the aid of our 900mm (3′) wide hand operated trolley.
There should be no obstructions between the lorry and the base, including steps, gate openings less than 900mm, steep inclines, soft ground, or rough terrain.
If there are any issues with access, it is still possible to deliver & erect your building, but you must inform the office at point of order or before as to the issues concerned.
NOTE
We reserve the right to modify or change specifications or materials without notice due to improvements or shortages. All sizes are approximate. If you need exact specifications or measurements please contact our office. No responsibility is accepted for errors or omissions herein.
